At the party to close the Summit Ms. Shinohara gave a speech on "My roots are in Australia: by becoming aware of the temp hire business in Australia I started a firm". Shinohara went on to talk about: "As it was difficult at that time for women to work on the same basis as men I thought it would be useful to progress the place of women in society by popularizing the temp system". "The key to growth was diversity in management achieved by mixing men and women of all ages and utilizing their various skills." Shinohara was asked by the interviewer questions such as: "What were the major challenges of being a female entrepreneur? ". "What is the role of women in Japan today?" This was all followed closely by the participants. For the first time since a Summit has been held, Ms. Shinohara was given a standing ovation and the venue filled with energy.
Later on 9th (Wed) and 10th (Thurs) of March, Ms. Shinohara gave lectures for overseas and female students on: "Establishing Tempstaff: Then and now." at The University of Sydney (Australia's oldest university). In the lecture Ms. Shinohara talked of her reminiscences of challenges setting up the firm and being a female manager: "When the firm was set up, I worked as an English conversation teacher at night to pay the salaries of my temps" , "I realized with my own eyes that if I worked hard that doors would open", "It is important to incorporate the various values of both men and women" etc. Questions from the students included: "When trouble occurred between male and female employees how did you address these issues?" In response Ms. Shinohara commented: "Irrespective of everything else I was careful how my involvement would be taken and how to proceed." It is not just about what measures you can take to resolve matters, giving people autonomy and supervising are valid alternatives appeared to be new points of view to the students.
